Woodburn Public Library
Old Guestbook

Many years ago, I was the volunteer developer and webmaster of the libary's first Web site. And I hosted it here at Woodburn's Own.

That lasted at least five years before they moved the hosting and development in-house, so to speak.

Here's the guestbook from way back then:

Nice site. I enjoyed it very much!

I grew up in Woodburn,Ore.&the Public Library. Some comments made about Woodburn, were sad, and someday will be regretted. That's O.K. Anyway, the reason for this e-mail. I graduated in 1968, my class ring was stolen. I have read thru the different comments, about your site. Names sound so familiar. Can anyone give me a direction for replacing my Woodburn Highschool ring of 1968? Please use e-mail address above to contact me. By the way, The Woodburn Library? Is it still the place. I loved that building and can still smell it in my memory. Thanks, Sandi

Hello, there I was looking for a courier service in Philadelphia, when up popped your web sight!! I thought I would say Hi and mention how nice it is to see you have so many positive responses to your guestbook, I did notice a couple of strange remarks, but I put it down to the lack reading at the local public library!!(ha ha) I am from England and moved to America in 1988 and I read that one person was looking into their family tree. I wonder if you have ever thought to find out about the name of your town and whether it has roots from England and perhaps you could twin with the UK town if you could find a link between you both....Just thinking out loud......Best of luck and now back to looking for that courier company in Philly!!!!!!!! I lived in Woodburn in the early ninties and I am looking for some information on the house I used to live in. It was close to the golf course and race track. The address is 8033 McCormick. If anyone has any info. Please contact me at my e-mail address. It was a particularly old country house and I am interested in it's history. It was once a train depot and is rumored to be haunted! If you can help, please contact me! Thanks!

What a lovely picture of Woodburn and the website and library are unique. I am a family (as opposed to professional) genealogist. I am searching for my information about my g. grandmother's brother. His name was M(Mathew)W (Wallace) Harrison. He was born in Mecklenburg Co. (near Charlotte) between 1821 and 1830, the son of Elam Harrison and Elam's lst wife Elizabeth Gault or his 2d wife Harriet Susan Wallace. My g. grandmother was Mary Catherine Harrison Snell (born 1830 Mecklenburg Co., NC - died 1905 Houston Co. TX). She received news of her brother's death (by telegram, I assume). The family records show Mathew's death as occurring in 1886/87/88, but the print is extremely dim. The information says he died in or near Woodburn. His name appears in a census index for 1860 as M.W. Harrison in Marion Co., page, 403, in Howell Prairie Precinct. He is in the 1870 census as M. Harrison, Marion Co., p. 033 North Salem. The 1880 census I do not have available to me, so I cannot say where he was living at that time. Does your library have death records or obituaries that go back that far? I would appreciate any assistance you might give in connection with Mathew Wallace Harrison. Thank you. Cordelia Snell Holem Are there cemetery records for the area that go back that far?

To cut a long story short, my family recently received a letter from a gentleman who lives in Woodburn, oregon who used to correspond with my grandfather many years ago, he wrote on the off-chance either my grandfather or his remaining family would receive the letter at the old address he had . We did, we all responded and now we await his reply. I just wanted to have a look for further information about where he lives out of curiosty.
